Company History
RTL Equipment was founded in 1988 by two cousins from Iowa to buy and sell used construction equipment. In 1994, RTL Equipment became a dealer of Develon equipment, and to this day, it proudly holds the title of the longest-running Develon, Tadano and Kobelco dealer in North America. In the 1990's the company built locations in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Continuing its success, RTL Equipment became an authorized dealer for renowned brands such as Terex/Demag in 1996, Mantis in 2007, and Kobelco in 2012, and Tadano in 2015.
A new chapter began in 2017 when the current ownership assumed control of the company. In 2022, RTL Equipment acquired Theco, Inc. and its locations in both Big Lake and Brainerd, Minnesota (Bobcat® of Brainerd) plus new and expanded Bobcat® and Powerscreen territories.
Today, RTL Equipment has a dedicated team of over 50 employees, 4 locations, a fleet of 16 service trucks, and 13 service bays. All three owners are actively involved in the day-to-day operation and leadership of the company. Every day, the staff of RTL is Driven by a Culture of Service!
